Hey guys! Hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the fall season. I’m (finally) getting over a pretty nasty cold and so I’ve been taking it pretty easy, but over the weekend my mom and my sisters and I hosted a Halloween-themed, girls movie night at our house. We do this every year with the same group of ladies and we just rotate the venue so everyone gets a chance to host. Now, you should all know by now how much I love any excuse to get a lil’ festive! I can’t help it, I love holidays! So I’ve spent the last few weeks scoring Pinterest and Michaels to come up with some fun and creative little details to add to our girls night in. Enter: these skull sugar cookies.
Sugar cookies are one of the easiest (and one of my favourite) ways to inject a little festivity in to any occasion. It’s a super versatile dough and as long as you’ve got some fun cookie cutters (or some serious freehand skills) and food colouring you can do a ton. I got this skull cutter from Michael’s for less than $2 and the cookie recipe off of Pinterest (find it here). I whipped up a batch of classic royal icing and turned it in to a fun activity to do with my sister so we could hang out and still get them done. I think that cookie decorating is so fun to do with your girlfriends or your kids (or someone else’s kids).
If you plan on throwing a girls night or movie night, I’ve pulled together some of my favourite treats and DIYs that you might want to try! Check them out below!
