Style Inspo: Neck Scarf

I have a confession. I am completely obsessed with the neck scarf. I know that it may not seem like everybody’s cup of tea, but look at how many different ways you can wear it! Cute and casual with a pair of joggers or high fashion with a tailored jacket. If there is a trend that Leandra Medine (a.k.a. The Man Repeller a.k.a. my fashion idol), Kendal Jenner, and Olivia Palermo are all trying out then I want in. It’s actually really simple to do; take a square scarf and fold it diagonally to make a triangle. If you’re scarf is more rectangular than square that can work too. Take either your triangle or your rectangle (this is starting to sound like math class) and fold it over about an inch or so, depending on the look you’re going for. Keep folding until you just can’t fold no more! Okay, that was a little embarrassing but seriously, once you’ve gotten to the end of the fabric it should be long and skinny and perfect for tying. Put it around your neck like a necklace and tie it in a knot. If you like it more bandana style than skip the folding and leave it in the triangle. Take the ends and tie them around the back of your neck. Voila! You did it! In case my super detailed explanation didn’t do it for you, here is a video that should make things a little clearer.

And as cute as they look tied around your neck, they also work just as well wrapped around the handle of an otherwise nondescript bag or hiding the fact that you should probably wash your hair.

So even though you probably never thought you could pull the look off, this particular trend is actually more versatile than it seems. Whether you’re more silk Hermès or vintage bandana, there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll find a style that fits you. Here are some  of my picks with easy shop-able links!
