Style Inspo: Denim and Fishnets

Fishnets are having a moment right now and I have to say that I am pretty obsessed. I’ll be honest and say that I’ve never really favoured fishnets on their own. Mostly they seemed a little too that side of edgy for me and insanely difficult to pull off in regular life. Unless you’re wearing a costume or you have huge amounts of confidence to pull them off, fishnets are not a staple in most people’s closets. But from your favourite celebrities to the biggest fashion bloggers, this trend is everywhere. And as bold as fishnets may seem, when paired up with denim like this they’re actually quite easy to pull off.

I’ve seen this trend done in two ways: fishnet tights worn under jeans or fishnet socks worn with jeans. Both are equally cool but they do have different vibes. Tights worn under jeans is a little cheeky and sexy in an unexpected way. The bit of the tights that peak out over the waistband or that shows through holes and distressing is subtle (or at least more subtle than full on fishnet tights on bare legs) but still shows some flair.

The sock take is even more subtle – it’s just a peak at the bottom but it still makes a statement. Fishnet socks add that instant ‘cool’ factor to any regular outfit, regular being the operative word which makes this super easy to pull off. Throw on a sweater and some jeans and just before you reach for your regular ankle boots, pull on a pair of these socks and let them peak over the top and you’ve instantly got a chic outfit on.
