The Ultimate Scary Movie Guide

Hey guys! We’re kicking October off with a spooky bang! Afterall, what gets you in the Halloween spirit more than scary movies? Probably nothing. Except if you’re me because I’m all about the cartoons and not the gore. So today I’ve recruited both of my sisters and they’re going to share an extensive list of their favourite scary movies. Enjoy!

Nimritta: Until I was about 12, I was scared of just about everything. The dark, small spaces, needles, sharks, bugs, empty washrooms, heights, blond hair, blood, you name it. So, when it came to scary movies, you could just forget it – there was no way you were going to get me to keep my eyes open through a horror film.

That changed when I watched The Ring. After watching it the first time, I had nightmares for a straight week – but when they stopped, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It haunted me in the most exciting way. After that, I was hooked, and I found myself craving the scary excitement from the adrenaline rush that the scary movies gave me.

Aikta: While I’ve always enjoyed watching the classics, it’s the dark, slightly offbeat films that quickly became my go to’s. My favourite of these films is easily Donnie Darko. My first time watching it, I had absolutely no idea what was happening The plot has many a twist and turn, and is in no way easily predicted. However, year after year I continue to watch it because it’s the experience of watching the film that I look forward to every October. It’s the montages (there’s like, three great ones), the characters (Cherita!), and the music (The Church’s “Under the Milky Way”, Tears For Fears’ “Head Over Heels” and Echo and the Bunnymen’s “The Killing Moon”) that make Donnie Darko a goth-y cult hit, and a staple in my “scary” movies collection.
