Current Beauty Favourites

I have been on a bit of a beauty kick lately! In the last few months I’ve been cutting back my beauty routine more and more and, while I enjoy the fresh-faced look, it’s been a lot of fun to break out my makeup bag again and play around. What’s even crazier is that I’ve got a whole slew of new beauty products! I am such a creature of habit and rarely break away from my tried and true but I’m super excited to share my current beauty favourites (especially considering the Sephora VIB sale is happening)!

FENTY BEAUTY BY RIHANNA Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Loungwear Foundation (available here)

Where do I even begin with this foundation? I have always struggled with foundation because either the colour is off (too ashy, too light, too dark) or the formula is off (I am pretty oily in my T-Zone but also have dry areas). This foundation is like the answer to all my prayers. It has a huge shade range (🙌) but also the formula is amazing! It’s matte but not flat, which is great because it hides the shine but still looks healthy and like skin. It’s also super pigmented and has great buildable coverage (I would say it’s a medium to full coverage). And a super great bonus? As far as high end foundations go, it’s pretty affordable! It’s $42 Canadian, which is not cheap, necessarily, but considering the Nars foundation I normally get is significantly more expensive I’m happy about any money I can save! Honestly, I don’t have a single negative thing to say about this product so I’m not even going to try.

Bobbi Brown ‘Beach’ perfume (available here), Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil (available here), TOO FACED Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette (available here), MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in ‘Soft and Gentle’ (available here)

This perfume is everything that I love: it’s beachy, it’s fresh, it’s feminine. I also love that it comes in a rollerball because I am not the kind of person who would ever finish an entire bottle of perfume and so it makes me feel guilty to buy multiple fragrances knowing that I’d never use them all up. But I don’t feel guilty about this one!

The Josie Maran Argan Oil is the only item from this post that isn’t a new favourite but it’s so good that I had to include it. During the winter months I use coconut oil as a heavy duty moisturizer because my skin is just so dry, but now that it’s warming up a little (I said a little!) I need something that’s a bit lighter but still super moisturizing. I use a few drops (like, 3) and work it in to my face and neck after doing my nighttime skincare routine and I just find it makes my skin hydrated and glowy and I just love it.

I have been coveting this eyeshadow palette for a long time but never bought it because it’s hard for me to justify owning so many eyeshadow palettes when I don’t wear makeup that often. But back in December I bit the bullet and bought it as a little present to myself and I am so glad. It has actually inspired me to wear makeup more because it’s so fun playing around with a new set of eyeshadows and creating fun looks. It’s got the perfect combination of colours that are still neutral (aka wearable) but fun.

Lastly we have the newest product in my collection. I’ve also been wanting this for a long time but have only recently really gotten in to the highlighter thing. I used to just have one that I loved and stuck with but it’s super gold and bronzy and I wanted something a little lighter and cooler-toned. This was a birthday gift (thanks, mom!) so I only got it about a week ago but I have already used it a huge amount! It’s great if you’re like me and prefer a subtle sheen over a spotlight-like-glow, or if you’re just getting in to highlighters.
